30 Authors from around the world you should read.

I have collated a list of diverse authors in race and genre ,that I think you should read next. You might have heard about them or maybe not. 


1.Kevin Kwan: you might have heard ,or already read a work of Kevin Kwan. He wrote the popular Crazy Asians trilogy. Crazy rich Asians was made into a movie, and was received very quite positively. If you haven't  read the trilogy, you should probably read it now. Kwan recently wrote ,Sex and vanity a book you should have in your TBR list!!


2.  Courtney Summers: Courtney is the best selling author of Sadie ,a young adult novel. The book ia a relalistic take on the young adult genre. You should definitely read Sadie.


3. E Lockhart: Emily Jenkins uses the pen name E Lockhart some times, she has written fantastic books like, We were liars and Genuine Fraud. Lockhart writes sophisticatedly and genuinely.



4. Brandy Colbert: Brandy Colbert takes an impact filled take in writing tound adult novels. Her books educate and entertain. She explores ,the black teenage life and all that it is.




5. Siobhan Vivian: is a a spectacular young adult novels, she has quite a number of titles to her name. One of my favorite is , The list. Vivian's characters are majorly females. Vivian delicately understands ,all the specs of been a female teenager in America. I particularly love the way she describes.


6. Lisa Allen Agostini:  Lisa is the author of Home Home ,a young adult Novel. Lisa is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago and also lives there.





7.Won Pyung Sohn: recently debuted with Almond ,a bitter sweet book,which touched my heart. The story ia powerful and significant in a lot of ways. 


8. Vikram Seth: Vikram Seth is an Indian writer and poet, who has many titles to his name. He has written several novels.He has received several awards such as Padma Shri, Sahitya Academy Award, Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, WH Smith Literary Award and Crossword Book Award.




9. Sefi Atta: a Nigerian-American, who writes beautifully and flawlessly about her Nigerian female protagonists. She is also a short story writer. Her works include ,News from home,The beads collector,Swallow etc  News from home is a beautiful collection of beautifully written short stories, it captures contemporary issues in skillful words strewn together.






10. Francine Rivers: is mostly known for writing Christian fiction books and inspirational romance ,but she used to wrote historical romance and confessed that she used to be addicted to romance books before becoming a Christian. Today she is a wide readership, mostly Christians, who are inspires awed and entertained by her writing. Among her works include, A voice in the wind ,an echo in the darkness,as sure ad dawn ,the atonement child among others.




11. Penny Jordan:Penelope Halsall  1946 – 31 December 2011,was a best-selling and prolific English writer of over 200 romance novels. She weitw under the penname as Penny Jordan and Annie Grove.  She also wrote novels as Melinda Wright and Lydia Hitchcock. Her books have sold over 70 million copies worldwide and been translated into many languages.



12: Rania Mamoun:Rania Ali Musa Mamoun  is a Sudanese journalist, novelist and fiction writer. She was born in the city of Wad Medani in east-central Sudan, and was educated at the University of Gezira. As a journalist, she is involved in both print media and television. She edits the culture page of the journal al-Thaqafi, writes a column for the newspaper al-Adwaa, and presents a cultural programme on Gezira State TV.


13:  Yaa Gyasi:

 Yaa Gyasi is Ghanaian-American novelist. Her debut novel, Homegoing, published in 2016, won her, at the age of 26, the National Book Critics Circle's John Leonard Award for best first book, the PEN/Hemingway Award for a first book of fiction, the National Book Foundation's "5 under 35" honors for 2016 and the American Book Award. She was awarded a Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Literature in 2020.



14. Vea Kaiser: Vea Kaiser  is an Austrian writer . Her novel debut "Blasmusikpop" , is sheer brilliant.



15 Chigozie Obioma: is best known for writing the novels The Fishermen  and An Orchestra of Minorities (2019), both of which were shortlisted for the Booker prize in their respective years of publication, one of only two writers to be so honored, the other being Rohinton Mistry. Between the two books, his work is being translated into thirty languages.






16 Emmanuel Carrare is a French author ,screen writer and also directs movies.


17. Colin Channer:Jamaican writer, often referred to as "Bob Marley with a pen," due to the spiritual, sensual, social themes presented from a literary Jamaican perspective. Indeed, his first two full-length novels, Waiting in Vain and Satisfy My Soul, bear the titles of well known Marley songs.



18: Angela Makholwa :Angela Makholwa is a South African author, the first black writer to write crime fiction in South Africa. Her novels feature Lucy who investigates rape cases and murders.


19. Angie Thomas:  Angie Thomas writes young adult books set in a fictional black community, Garden heights. She writes about exceptional characters and likes to shed light on contemporary issues surrounding black teenagers in America today.




20. Lola Shoneyin: is a Nigerian poet and author who launched her debut novel, The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives, in the UK in May 2010. Shoneyin has forged a reputation as an adventurous, humorous and outspoken poet , having published three volumes of poetry. In April 2014 she was named on the Hay Festival's Africa39 list of 39 Sub-Saharan African writers aged under 40 with potential and talent to define trends in African literature.Lola won the PEN Award in America ,as well as the Ken Saro-Wiwa Award for prose in Nigeria.


21  Bethany C Morrow : writes speculative teen fiction  like her recent book ,A song below Waters. She has written an adult book titled Mem.


28: Carmen Boullosa: Carmen Boullosa was   born on September 4, 1954 in Mexico City, Mexico.  She is a Mexican poet, novelist and playwright. Her work focuses on the issues of feminism and gender roles within  Latin American context.


29: Mona Award: Mona Awad is a Canadian novelist and short-story writer. Her debut book, 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl, a novel  about a woman's lifelong struggle with body image issues, won the Amazon First Novel Award.

30: Niccolo Ammanitini: is an Italian writer, winner of the Premio Strega in 2007 for As God Commands.  He has written a number of books including , I'm not scared.
