15 DIARY/EPISTOLARY BOOKS YOU SHOULD READ.

 Diary books and epistolary novels are really fun to read. I like diary books in particular. It truly makes me see the character. Here are 15 diary and epistolary novels that you should read.



1.The Diary of a Young girl: The diary of a young girl,is also known as the diary of Anne Frank. The diary book is an actual diary kept by Anne Frank a nnelies Marie "Anne" Frank born 12 June 1929 ,she was  a German-Dutch of Jewish origin. She kept the diary when she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. The family was apprehended in 1944, and Anne Frank died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945. The diary was retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne's father, Otto Frank, the family's only known survivor, just after the war was over. The diary has since been published in more than 60 languages.

2.Dork Diaries: Dork diaries is a really funny book to read. It was written by Rachel Renée Russell and illustrated by her. Although Dork diaries are considered written for children. Dork diaries are really humorous and I find it fun to read. The book is about the 14 year old Nikki Maxwell ,who goes to middle school.


3. The Princess Diaries:The princess diaries is a series, based in the diary of a fictional character,Amelia Thermopolis,a teenager in New York who discovers that she is the princess of a small European principality called Genovia. The book series was written by Meg Cabot.


4.The perks of being a wallflower: It is a young adult coming of age novel written by Steven Chbosky. The book is set in the early 1990s, the novel centers on Charlie, an introverted observing teenager, through his freshman year of high school in a Pittsburgh suburb. The novel details Charlie's unique style of thinking as he tries to find questions to his troubling questions.

 


5.Bridget Jones's diary: is a humorous 1966 novel,by Helen Fielding. Helen uses the diary prose style to tell Bridget's story ,a single lady who is about 32 or 35 ,who lives and works in London. Over two million copies have been sold worldwide.

6. The secret diary of Adrian Mole: The secret Diary of Adrian Mole, is the first book in the Adrian Mole series of comedic fiction, written by Sue Townsend. The book is written in a diary style, and focuses on the worries and regrets of a teenager who believes himself to be intelligent and smart . The story is set in 1981 and 1982.


7.Book of a thousand days: This book is a young adult fantasy novel written by Shannon Hale.

  The book encompasses the life of Dashti ,a mucker from steppes of the Eight Realms,  when she begins a diary as she looks for a job after her mother dies of illness. 



8.The diary of a wimpy kid: The diary of a wimpy kid by Jeff Kinney is a tween book series  written in diary style.The book is about a boy named Greg Hefflely and his mischievous doings. The book is also fun to read for adults and teenagers too. If you want to laugh your ass off ,you should read it. 


9.Dear Nobody: The true diary of Mary Rose:  Dear nobody encompasses the life of Mary Rose,trying to escape depression. And finds escape through drugs. The book is very raw and so is the character of Mary Rose.


10.Dear John: Dear John by Nicolas Sparks is a romance novel about the story is about a couple who fall in love over one summer. They are separated during the man's military service. John Tyree, the main character, has a father with Asperger's syndrome. The story is partially set in Wilmington, North Carolina where John's father was a single parent who had difficulty having meaningful conversation with his son and has an obsession with coin collecting.


11. Are you there God it's me,Margaret: 

Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, is a 1970 book by Judy Blume, a young adult novel, about a sixth-grade girl who has grown up without a religious affiliation, due to her parents' interfaith marriage. The novel focuses on her quest for a single religion, while confronting typical issues common to  early adolescent girls going through puberty, such as buying her first bra, having her menarche, and feeling attracted to boys.



12.From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess: is a 2015  tween novel written and illustrated by Meg Cabot and a spinoff of the author's young adult fiction series, The Princess Diaries. The book was released on May 19, 2015 through Feiwel & Friends . The book is about Olivia, a bi-racial 12-year-old who finds out she is the half-sister of Princess Mia Thermopolis. The book is written in diary style.

13: I capture the castle: I capture the castle is the debut novel of  British author Dodie Smith, written during the Second World War when she and her husband Alec Beesley were living in California. She longed for home and wrote of a happier time. She later became famous for writing The hundred and one Dalmatians.


14. Z for Zacharia:  Ann Bradley believes she is the only person alive in the world after a nuclear war,later on she welcomes a suspicious wandering stranger happily. 


15.The diary of a teenage girl: fifteen year old Minnie Goetez believes she is ugly and was born ugly,she loses her virginity to her mother's boyfriend ,and she plunges into a fearless adolescent life. As she develops her artistic talents,she goes through various sexual escapades. It  can be regarded as a coming of age novel.

It  is a diaristic graphic novel by author and artist Phoebe Gloeckner.
